EMEFE in Vancouver with Small Town Artillery & The Royal Sundowners

Thu 17 Sep 2026 7:00 PM - 10:30 PM The Fox Cabaret. 2321 Main St, VANCOUVER

Three bands collide for one night of high-octane fun

EMEFE  are a horn-driven dance party from Brooklyn NY, bringing ten-piece funk, Afrobeat, and alt-pop heat to Vancouver for one night only.

Small Town Artillery bring earnest, orchestral indie rock from the mountains of Kaslo BC, with soaring horns, expressive violin, and a "we can make it" heart that fills every room.

The Royal Sundowners set the soundtrack to sundowning with original music that eases the room from early-evening lift into a low-lit, late-night groove.

Doors open 6:30 - Show starts 7pm

Born in the basement rehearsal rooms of New York City's jazz programs, EMEFE have spent the past fifteen years chasing the same goal: the pure joy of making music together. What began as a group of classmates obsessed with playing has grown into a horn-driven blend of funk and Afrobeat built for the dance floor. Vice calls the band "refreshingly positive and life-affirming." All About Jazz describes their sound as "fresh and inventive," while Mass Appeal calls them "a tour de force." Produced by Miles Francis, a mentee of Fela Kuti's legendary drummer Tony Allen, their new album Forward channels the energy of Tower of Power and Vulfpeck, the groove of Fela Kuti with the Dap-Kings, and the adventurous spirit of Talking Heads' Remain in Light through a Prince-inspired lens. More than ten million organic streams and a devoted live following later, the mission hasn't changed. EMEFE are still making joyful, infectious music together.

Small Town Artillery brings earnest, orchestral indie rock to the stage with big energy and even bigger heart. Born in the mountain paradise of Kaslo, BC, brothers Tom and Derek van Deursen have spent the last decade crafting a sound that moves from soft and nostalgic to bright and thunderous.With soaring horns, expressive violin, charged guitars, pounding rhythms, and Tom’s poetic “we can make it” songwriting, their live show is heartfelt, jumpy, emotional, and unforgettable.Over the past 10 years, Small Town Artillery has carved out their own corner of the Pacific Northwest music scene, playing more than 350 shows, touring across BC, and performing at beloved festivals including Kaslo Jazz and Edge of the World. Signed to JumpAttack! Records for their 2018 album Don’t Talk Away The Magic, the band is in the midst of releasing their 3rd LP, titled "I'm Glad You Stayed Here".

THE ROYAL SUNDOWNERS

@royalsundowners

From pandemic-era park jams in East Vancouver, The Royal Sundowners came together the old-fashioned way: word of mouth, gear loaded on wagons, amps running off car batteries. From a rotating cast of musical characters, five musicians with deep roots in music banded together and found their sound. The Royal Sundowners sink into a groove of soulful vocals, bright guitar, funky bass, beats that move, and keys that shine. Rooted in soul and indie pop, they lead the groove from sunlit ease into fully alive, late-night energy. Their ethos is simple: good times, good vibes, good music, good people.
